Happy almost-New Year Everyone!

In this wonderful Wired article, it tells about how Edwin Hubble discovered (through the aid of a really powerful telescope) that stars from the Andromeda “Nebula” were actually from the Andromeda “Galaxy”, a whole different galaxy from the Milky Way. This meant that the universe was suddenly much, much larger than it had been perceived to be up to this point. This seems like common sense to me today, much like how the planets revolve around the sun. But this is within the lifetime of a good many people still alive. That amazes me, and it makes me wonder how many other wonderful things that we humans haven’t found out about yet. I can’t wait, and I hope I live long enough to find out about something equally as amazing as the realization that our galaxy isn’t the only one out there.
Something tells me I posted this one within the last few months. If so, it’s worth posting again!
This came up in conversation recently, and I thought it deserved a listen.
I’ve never watched more than 15 minutes of Doctor Who, but I love all the internet fan jokes about the show. It reminds me of when people were that into Star Trek on TV.
Was Vader there and directly involved? If so, did he reveal himself and have a conversation with them at the table over some blue milk? Or did he just blow them away? And really, no one else in any of the movies ever showed up blowtorched. What kind of weapons did they use?
My good friend Jason on DoubleBassBlog.org traditionally posts Jingle Cats every Christmas. This year he was kind enough to post the reverb’d backwards version of the same song. So, I stole it.
…or “What would REALLY happen if 3 impressionable young men suddenly got superpowers?”. Basically, using them for the guys’ own selfish desires, and warranting a 5-star wanted level in GTA, apparently.
Here is a re-post from almost 4 years ago, but I figured it deserved another look. This is a graphical representation on the relationships between the figures in the New Testament Bible. I stole this post fair and square from BoingBoing. It is, truly, a directory of wonderful things. Go here for the full story.
I’m glad they didn’t try for the Old Testament. With all the begats, the graphic would be two pages wide, at least.
